This painting carries a funny backstory. We had the canvas for years, but it was badly wrinkled, and no matter what we tried, we couldn’t get it smooth. Finally, Talana decided to paint on it anyway. Duncan even wrinkled it up more, just to see what would happen.

The result became It’s Complicated—a piece that mirrors life itself. The folds and creases symbolize the ups and downs we all go through, while the bursts of bright color capture the joyful moments that shine through despite the struggles.
